Young Adults (1 year up to 3+ years)
Hormonal Influences: As your pet leaves puppyhood, you may start to notice new habits due to their rapidly changing hormones. Identify if they are good or bad habits and best ways to manage them through obedience classes or online training tips. Very important to start early!!
Medical Record Tracking: Ensure you have your annual vet visits scheduled and following each appointment, always be sure to take all the paperwork with you (not just the receipt!). Ask for the bloodwork results, test results, x-rays, etc. so you can start to track trends early on when they are young. Peace Love Pet will be launching a new product COMING SOON!!
Increased Social Awareness: You will find that your pet will become more challenged with boundaries and territories at this stage. Not only themselves, but with you and your actions causing them to become more protective, independent or even anxious.
Sexual Maturity: OK parents, at this point, you probably have decided to neuter or spay or pet. If you decided against this option, this is the stage where magic happens! Keep a look out when your pet is around other animals at dog parks or daycare if there is more than one furry friend!
Traveling: Now that your pet is a little older, you may want them to travel with you on trips. Airlines have recently changed their guidelines so please do your research (by airline), before getting on a plane. I will be writing a blog on this exact topic, as the airlines have made it very tricky for pet owners.
